Australian Labor Party (ALP). Member of central executive from 1920 until 1921, 1923 until 1926, president of Central Women's conference in 1926; acted as a secretary to F.M Burke, stood against him as Lang Labor when he transferred allegiance from J.T Lang.

Educated to state primary level; journeyed to Sydney in 1911 and lived thereafter in Newtown; active in community organisations and local government; presided at Cooma court in 1921; director of Picton Lakes TB Settlement; executive member of Women's Voluntary National Register from 1939 until 1940; trustee of Erskine Hospital and Newtown Police Boys Club; active worker for Methodist church.
