Shearer and union organiser. Arrived in Queensland in c.1878; woodcutter at Charters Towers, battery hand, shearer in Western Districts; helped to form the Queensland Shearers' and Labourers' unions, delegate to conference which formed the Australian Workers Union; moved to New South Wales in c.1895, shearing, mining and droving. Australian Workers' Union agent in Wilcannia in 1899, secretary of the Bourke branch from 1900 until 1904, following abolition of seat, Ballarat office; secretary of the Victoria Riverina branch, assistant secretary of head office in Sydney from 1927 until 1930.
