Schoolteacher with Department of Education from 1882 until 1891; joined staff of Goulburn Evening Penny Post in 1891; moved to Bellingen; edited Raleigh Sun from 1894 until 1898; commenced business an an auctioneer and land agent; member of Coffs Harbour and Bellingen railway leagues; member of Aborigines Protection Board from 1915 until 1916.
