Qualifications, occupations and interests
Pastoralist and Appraiser. Father established a thoroughbred and Arab stud at Lindenow Station, Gippsland. Educated at St Mary's Seminary, Hobart and Stonyhurst, England. Returned to Australia and started a squatting career on his fathers property, Burrabogie, 1862. Purchased Hanthawang station in 1872 and lived there until 1880. Commenced as a stock and station agent with firm McDermott, Loughnan and Scarr, 1881.
