Qualifications, occupations and interests
Landed proprieter and farmer. Educated principally at The Kings School in Parramatta and under Reverend Mr Forrest at Campbelltown. Travelled in England and on the Continent. from 1842 until 1845. Lived at Kirkham Estate in Camden. Grew lucerne and changed to cereal crops. By 1865 was engaged in mixed farming. With brother received a land grant of 5,000 acres.

Married (2) Harriet Jane Hassall on 15 February 1854 at Narellan and had issue, 5 daughters and 3 sons. Church of England.
