Pastoralist. Arrived in Sydney c.1837. Overlanded stock to Port Phillip; purchased Viewbank, 200 acres in Heidelberg in 1844; sold out and with William Blow took over part of Frenchman's Station at Wardy Yallock in 1847. Pastoral interests on Murray. Dissolved partnership in 1853; sold Port Phillip runs in 1858 and moved to New South Wales. Not listed as a squatter in unsettled districts in New South Wales in 1859 or 1866.

His property 'Viewbank', then a 192 acre property at the junction of the Plenty and Yarra Rivers in what was then the Port Phillip District of New South Wales (now Victoria), which he bought in 1839 and sold in 1844, is now the property of Parks Victoria and has been archaeologically excavated by Heritage Victoria (SEE http://www.heritage.vic.gov.au/page.asp?ID=112&pf=1)
