Lawyer (barrister). Owned a country property as a jackeroo. Educated at Barker College, Hornsby, New South Wales, from 1938 - 1944, and Sydney University in 1952 (LLB). Vice president of Civic Reform Association since 1967 - campaign committee of city council elections 1969 until 1971. Admitted as a Barrister at Law in 1954. Appointed as a Queens Counsel (Q.C) in 1982. Appointed as a Judge of the District Court 1993 - 2002. Recreational interests include golf.

Pilot Officer with Sydney University Squadron in 1952, Royal Australian Air Force, reserve.

Divorced 1976. Married (2) Judith Little (died 1987) in 1980. Married (3) Heather Lise Barritt in 1990.
