Educated at Marist Brothers, Hunters Hill and undertook night study. father died while young; audit clerk; accountant in Sydney and Lismore; lost job in depression, took up 40 acres on the Central Coast for dairying; on relief work; organiser of Unemployment Relief Workers Association, Erina Shire, state president, state secretary, attached to the Trades and Labor Council (TLC) from 1939 until 1941; Commonwealth Department of Labour and National Service from 1941 until 1960, with Manpower Directorate from 1941 until 1945; poultry farmer; receiver and manager of Automatic Sellers (Australia) Limited, chairman from 1960; advocate before Fair Rents Court; director of Waitara and Hornsby groups of Terminating Co-operative Building Societies from 1960; member of Hornsby District Hospital Board from 1958 until 1975, treasurer from 1960; member of executive of New South Wales Hospitals Association; councillor of Administrative and Clerical Officers' Association (1961).
