Educated at Geurie public school and Sydney Grammar; worked on maternal grandparents' farm near Geurie, spent some time at technical college studying woolclassing, veterinary science and architecture; member of Farmers and Settlers' Association from 1910, executive member 1918 - 1921, president 1923 - 1926, vice president 1921 - 1923, 1926 - 1927, 1948 - 1950; councillor of Graziers' Association 1952 - 1955; office holder of Dubbo Polio Society and Ambulance Brigade; chairman of Murray Valley Water Commission; after political defeat returned to farm, retired to Brisbane.
