Educated at Numbaa public school and Hurstville College at Goulburn; joined Commercial Banking Company of Sydney as a teller; farmed on Macleay River; joined father then brother in management of the Berry Estate on Shoalhaven from c.1893 until 1928; director of Bacchus Milk Company; president of Berry Agricultural Association, Illawarra Herdtesting Association, Shoalhaven Turf and Coursing Clubs, and South Coast Rugby Union; councillor of Royal Agricultural Society; author in 1912; owner of famous show jumpers including 'Desmond'.

Henry Morton was born on 19 October 1867 at Numbaa near Nowra. He married Maude
Dangar and they had one son and one daughter. He joined the Commercial Banking
Company of Sydney as a teller, but later took up farming on the Macleay River
From 1896 until 1928 he managed the Berry Estate on the Shoalhaven with his
father and brother. Both his brothers, Philip Henry Morton and Mark Fairies
Morton, were also Members of the New South Wales Parliament, as was his nephew,
also Philip Henry Morton.
Henry Morton entered the Legislative .Assembly as the Member for Hastings and
Macleay between 1910 and 1920, and for Oxley from 1920 to 1925. He held the
position of Speaker between July and December 1913, taking over the Speaker's
Chair for the remainder of Speaker Willis' term. He died on 3 June 1932 in
Sydney.
