Arrived in New South Wales in 1885; North Coast traveller for Sydney with a softgoods firm from 1887 until 1895; settled in Lismore in 1895, opened a general store in partnership with S.F McMaster and John Moorehead; established an unsuccessful tannery; president of Commercial Travellers' Association of Australasia in 1895, delegate to world congress of commercial travellers in Paris in 1900; president of Lismore Chamber of Commerce, delegate to Empire Congress in London in 1900, and Sydney in 1909; vice president of Country Storekeepers Association of New South Wales in 1904, delegate to Retail Merchants' convention, San Francisco in 1904, member of Farmer and Settlers' Association in 1914; president of Lismore Agricultural and Industrial Society for five years; retired to Sydney in 1920's; supported New State Movement; Protestant. fed in 1921.
