2109 - HUNTER TRANSIT OFFICERS

  1. When will the 26 Hunter transit officers be made redundant?
  2. How many police officers will replace them?
  3. Will the police officers work solely in the Hunter?
  4. (a) Will they work only on trains?
    (b) If not, what will be their additional roles?
Answer -

I am advised:

  1. There is no dedicated team of 26 Transit Officers in the Hunter Region. Transit Officers are currently deployed in the Hunter Region based on intelligence based on security incidents in areas and at times where they are most needed. The new Police Transport Command will patrol the Hunter Region.
  2. to (4) These questions relate to Police Transport Command planning and should be addressed to the Minister for Police and Emergency Services.
