2517 - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT NURSES

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Health, and Minister for Medical Research
  1. As at July 2012, how many full-time equivalent Emergency Department nurses are employed at the:
    1. John Hunter Hospital;
    2. Calvary Mater Hospital?
  2. How many positions are filled and how many are vacant?
Answer -

I am advised:

(1) and (2) Staffing levels are determined and adjusted as required by local management in line with patient need and specific award and benchmark tools.

At any one time hospitals operate with a degree of staff vacancies. However, where vacancies exist, temporary qualified staff are employed where required pending recruitment to these positions.
