Considering that John Hunter Hospital paid out $2,379,063 in compensation in
the 2016-17 financial year, the most of any hospital in the state, is NSW
Health investigating why the hospital's liability was so high?
-
If so, what steps is the department taking to reduce outcomes that lead to
this liability?
|
Answer -
|
Compensation claims can be lodged and payments made years after an event
occurs, meaning claims resolved in a particular financial year do not indicate
the number or seriousness of incidents which occurred in that particular
year.
