1846 - REJUVENATION OF CARDIFF CBD

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Transport representing the Minister for Roads and Ports

When will the Government commence the $2.5 million rejuvenation of Cardiff CBD, a March 2011 election commitment?

Answer -

I am advised:

Funding of the rejuvenation of the Cardiff CBD is being provided under the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund.

An offer of $500,000 was made to Lake Macquarie City Council in January 2012 to allow construction to commence in 201112.

Lake Macquarie City Council advised that construction would not commence until a Cardiff CBD streetscape master plan was developed. After community consultation of the master plan last year, Lake Macquarie City Council has in March 2012 adopted the scheme for work and is now commencing the detailed design.

Funding of the $2.5 million will be provided progressively to Lake Macquarie City Council as work proceeds.
