1502 - DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVENTION

Hornery, Sonia to the Minister for Mental Health, Minister for Medical Research, Assistant Minister for Health, Minister for Women, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
  1. Will the Government stay with the current funding model of $148.5 million towards domestic violence prevention over the next four years?
  2. Will the Government follow the Commonwealth Government's lead and increase funding to domestic violence prevention?
  3. Is domestic violence a priority that necessitates increased awareness and increased funding?
  4. What steps will the Government take regarding building an effective and sustainable funding model to provide support services for women, that reflects the Commonwealth Government's commitment to creating a cultural shift in Australia?
Answer -

On the 14 October 2015 the Government announced a $60 million package to target perpetrators and support women, men and children who have experienced domestic and family violence (DFV).

The package augments the Government's existing It Stops Here domestic family violence reforms. It responds to the Premier's priority to reduce reoffending by 2019, and supports victims to escape and survive domestic and family violence.
