Clare's Law To Be Implemented In NSW - Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS)

To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly, Every day, behind closed doors, lives are destroyed by domestic violence, leaving wounds that may never heal. It robs individuals of dignity, autonomy, and security, with scars lasting a lifetime. Now is the time to act. Clare’s Law, named after Clare Wood, who tragically lost her life to domestic violence, empowers individuals by granting access to vital police information about potential perpetrators. This law offers a lifeline to those at risk, providing knowledge that can save lives and help reclaim autonomy and security. We cannot accept a reality where fear and violence dominate. Together, we must stand united and say, "Enough is enough." Let’s bring hope to those living in darkness and take a critical step towards a safer future for all Australians. We, the undersigned petitioners, therefore, ask the Legislative Assembly to call on the Government to go beyond political divides and unite in the pursuit of justice, safety, and compassion by passing a bill to implement Clare's Law in NSW. Clare's Law is also known as the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS). We urge our leaders and policymakers to listen to the voices of survivors, advocates, and concerned Australians. We ask to take decisive action to address the issue of domestic violence in our society and to implement Clare's Law within the NSW.
