To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,
The lack of a right-hand turn arrow from the Guildford Road, travelling west, into Woodville Road intersection allows a continuously dangerous situation occurring whereby traffic remains queued in Guildford Road for 100 meters waiting for an opportunity to safely turn right into Woodville Road.
Any right-hand turn can only be achieved when the amber light occurs creating a very real possibility of a head on collision. Further, the result of the queuing of vehicles in Guildford Road has a 'knock-on' effect, then blocking access across the follow intersections:
Guildford Road/Hinchen Street
Guildford Road/Rowley Road
Guildford Road/Lough Avenue
People using this intersection take their lives into their own hands. There needs to be urgent intervention to address this unacceptable circumstance.
The undersigned petitioners therefore respectfully request that the Legislative Assembly call on the Minister for Transport to urgently provide a right-hand turn arrow from Guildford Road, travelling west, into Woodville Road.
