To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,
We, the undersigned residents of Cardiff, petition the Legislative Assembly to urgently address a critical issue impacting our community. For years, residents have cultivated and maintained the lush garden at the end of Gorleston Terrace, offering a playground and natural classroom for our children.
Unfortunately, a planned retaining wall construction by Wests Leagues on Pendlebury Road threatens this garden and its ecosystem. The new buildings and car parks will destroy the garden, take away the street view, and affect U-turn capabilities. This construction would cause massive habitat loss for the diverse species in the garden and disrupt a vital wildlife corridor.
Our request is to amend the planning application to push back the boundary of units 28 and 34 and their hardstand areas to preserve ALL the existing nature reserve between the car park and Gorleston Terrace, including the area behind our boundary.
We ask the Legislative Assembly to call on the Government to cease plans for the retaining wall on Gorleston Terrace and protect the garden and its wildlife from destruction.
