Educated at Fort Street High School. and University of Sydney (LLB 1928); admitted as a solicitor in 1928; member of Higgins, Holden and Company from 1930 until 1938; admitted as a barrister in 1938, built up a large practice in common law, later specialising in workers' compensation; District Court judge from 1945 until 1965, retired.
