Son of Alexander Hemsley, solicitor, and Catherine Blackett. Married Miss Campbell. Funeral at South Head cemetery from St Mark's Church of England, Darling Point.
Qualifications, occupations and interests
Lawyer (Solicitor). Educated at Westminster School and St John's College, Oxford, BA in 1882; admitted as a solicitor in London in 1886; arrived in Sydney in 1888, joined brother's legal firm, at a later time became a partner in Hemsley and Perkins, and from 1894 in Allen, Allen and Hemsley; director of Mt Isa Mines Limited from 1924 until 1936, New Guinea Goldfields Limited from 1929 until 1936; president of Incorporated Law Institute from 1917 until 1920; chairman of directors at St Luke's Hospital; Union club.
