Notes: H.J.F.Peters was declared bankrupt. The Liberals did not nominate a candidate, declaring a political truce for the War. (Rydon, Spann and Nelson) George Cann had been elected MHR for Werriwa in 1910 but was defeated in 1913, and his election for Canterbury allowed him to join his brother John Henry in State Paliament. John Henry left the Labor Party in the conscription split, George left after the factional warfare of the first Lang government 1925-27.
