Cause Category: Qualifications Committee
Notes: Significant irregularities in the original poll caused the Elections and Qualifications Committee to overturn the result and call a new by-election. Many ballot papers had not been signed correctly by issuing officers, and in its re-count the Committee excluded 256 votes, producing the totals Fitzpatrick 388, Wall 376. The Committee chose to void the result (LAVP 1895 Vol.1 p.459)
