Notes: Fegan was a sitting MP for Newcastle. In 'Civilising Capitalism', Bede Nairn lists Fegan as one of the non-solidarity Labor candidates (p120 and footnote). Hughes and Graham (1975) list him as an Independent Labor candidate, but he is listed here according to his endorsement as a selected Free Trade candidate in both the SMH and Australian Star. Fegan is not mentioned as a Labor candidate in the Worker and was only listed as an Independent Labor candidate in the post-election issue of the Australian Workman. Given his subsequent career, Free Trade seems to be the appropriate listing for Fegan. Hughes and Graham (1975) also list Hestelow as a Free Trade Labor candidate, in line with general candidate listings in the SMH and DT. However, he is not mentioned in either the Australian Workman or Worker, so is listed here as Independent Free Trade.
