Notes: Extra MP allocated since 1880. Sitting MP James Squire Farnell had already been defeated contesting Parramatta and was subsequently elected contesting New England. Henry Parkes withdrew from this contest after being elected unopposed in Tenterfield on 4 December. Unfortunately for Parkes, as his name was on the ballot paper and he attracted 70 votes, he had to forfeit his 40 pound deposit.
