Taylor, Hugh (Re-elected)
Elected unopposed
Cause Category: Resignation - Other
Notes: Resignation of Hugh Taylor. At the nomination husting, Taylor explained he had resigned after questions had been raised as to whether he had a contract with a government board. Taylor was concerned that a petition against his election would be referred to a hostile Elections and Qualifications Committee enquiry, and even if Taylor was found to be validly elected, he would have been left with a legal debt. Resigning and forcing a by-election bypassed the problem.
