Notes: Clark Irving was sitting MP for squatter-dominated Clarence and Darling Downs and moved to contest a more liberal electorate. In an address to electors (SMH 12 January, p.2 col.5) he stated he had been solicited as a replacement for sitting MP Hovenden Hely, who had stated his own reasosn for not re-contesting SMH 11 January, p.2 col.5.
