Notes: Caused by the resignation of EC Weekes. He had been declared elected for Northumberland Boroughs on appeal to the Elections and Qualifications Committee, and chose to resign from Cumberland (South Riding). The by-election result was later voided by the Elections and Qualifications Committee.
