Guide to Archives Collection - Aboriginal People

The NSW Legislature has overseen official Government policy in relation to the Aboriginal people of NSW since the constitution of the first Legislative Council in 1824. The Parliamentary Archives holds government records which have been tabled as well as records of various select committees relating to Aboriginal people. The State Records Authority of NSW holds the record of the official policies of the Government towards Aboriginal people.

The Parliament also holds a number of specifically Parliamentary archives relating to Aboriginal people some of which are printed in the official Parliamentary Papers and which are listed here. Other remained unprinted in their original format: a complete listing of these records will eventually be placed on this Website.
