Function
The Department's mission is to provide an environment in which the Parliament may carry out its function, and to provide excellent service equal to our clients' expectations.
Our principal premise is to ensure suitable actions are identified, programmed and implemented to enable the Parliament building to be fit for its prestigious role for the next 100 years.
The Parliamentary Building Services (PBS) is a department of two principal groups Property Services and Engineering. It consists of 80 staff providing the complete range of services needed to maintain and operate Parliament House.
Services involve the maintenance of the structure and fabrics in the building, its engineering systems as well as gardening, cleaning, operation and presentation. The department is also responsible for the continuous supply of energy to the State Library of NSW and the Sydney Hospital.
