Motion by the Hon. LYNDA VOLTZ, on behalf of the Hon. AMANDA FAZIO, agreed to:
1. That this House notes that Macular Degeneration Awareness Week will be held from 27 May to 2 June 2012.
2. That this House notes the success of the awareness campaigns run by the Macular Degeneration Foundation, which have resulted in:
(a) an increase in awareness of macular degeneration amongst those over 50 from 58 per cent to 92 per cent over a five year period, and
(b) eye testing of the macular rising from 33 per cent in 2007 to 59 per cent in 2011.
3. That this House congratulates the Chief Executive Officer, Ms Julie Heraghty, the board, members, staff and volunteers of the Macular Degeneration Foundation for their success in raising awareness of macular degeneration.
