Gun Law Reform
GUN LAW REFORM
The Hon. J. S. TINGLE: I address my question without notice to the Treasurer, Minister for Energy, Minister for State and Regional Development, Minister Assisting the Premier, and Vice-President of the Executive Council, representing the Minister for Transport, and Minister for Tourism. Will the Minister confirm for the information of the House whether in Broken Hill last Sunday sections of the trade union movement carried out a trade union ritual known as ringing the tin on the Premier? Was ringing the tin carried out to indicate the displeasure of sections of the trade union movement in Broken Hill at the State Government's support of proposed new firearm laws? Does the Minister agree that ringing the tin signifies that sections of the trade union movement in Broken Hill have sent the Premier to Coventry? Is the Minister concerned about this event?
The Hon. M. R. EGAN: I have to admit that I did not know that the Premier was in Broken Hill last week or on the weekend. I know he was in Grafton, where he got a great reception.
