ROBERTS ROAD GREENACRE TELECOM SITE
The Hon. B. H. VAUGHAN: I direct my question without notice to the Minister for Planning. Is he aware of an application to rezone the Telecom site in Roberts Road, Greenacre? If he is - and I notice the Minister is smiling - does he accept the decision of Strathfield council not to rezone?
The Hon. R. J. WEBSTER: I am surprised that the Deputy Leader of the Opposition would raise this matter. It goes to the very heart of the hypocrisy of the present incumbent of The Lodge, Paul Keating, who, with his local member hat on, has deliberately denied the creation of development in his electorate, which, of course, would create jobs. He has caught the not-in-my-backyard syndrome, otherwise known as the NIMBY syndrome, for which he has criticised so many other people in New South Wales and Australia.
The Hon. B. H. Vaughan: Is the Minister saying he has been made aware of this?
The Hon. R. J. WEBSTER: The answer to the honourable member's interjection is yes, I am aware of the development, and I am aware of the position of the local Federal member. He has displayed that NIMBY syndrome for which he has

criticised other people.
The Hon. B. H. Vaughan: What does the Minister want to do with it?
The Hon. R. J. WEBSTER: The honourable member asked what this Government is going to do with the site. The answer to that question is that our Government has made no decision about the site because, as he would know, the development application went to the local council. At this point our Government has made no decision about it. When a decision is made about it I will inform the honourable member of it.
