Mr SOURIS: My question is directed to the Minister for Education and Training. How does the Minister justify breaking his own departmental protocol that under no circumstances should public comment be made on whether an individual student is receiving counselling by giving a ministerial statement on 10 April and subsequent media interviews?
Mr AQUILINA: I have just given a detailed explanation to the House in relation to this matter.
Mr SPEAKER: Order! The Leader of the Opposition will cease interjecting.
Mr AQUILINA: I said at the time I made my statement that it was a serious issue that required raising in this House. I stand by the explanation I have given and also indicate to the House my concern and regret at the distress that this incident has caused to the boy and his family.
