S.O.251 Disorder - Member named - procedure after naming
251. If the Member has been named:
- the Speaker shall forthwith propose the question "That the Member for ... be suspended from the service of the House".
- There shall be no amendment, adjournment or debate allowed on this motion. However, the Member named may make an explanation limited to 5 minutes.

| 2001 Precedent | 1. Motion moved that the Member for Pittwater be suspended from the service of the House. The Member was suspended for 2 sitting days. VP 27/11/01, 1654 - 5 2. By direction of the Speaker, the Member for Ku-ring-gai was removed from the Chamber by the Serjeant-at-Arms. The Speaker then asked him to return to the Chamber so that he could name him for being guilty of disorderly conduct. Point of order taken that it was not in order for the Speaker to name a Member after he had left the Chamber. Motion moved that the Member be suspended from the service of the House, however, the Member did not return to the Chamber to make an explanation. The Member was suspended for 2 sitting days.
