MINISTER FOR PRIMARY INDUSTRIES PARLIAMENTARY ALLOWANCE
Page: 12764

The Hon. DUNCAN GAY: I direct my question without notice to the Minister for Primary Industries. Is the Minister aware that the Premier has committed his Government to strive for honesty, transparency and accountability? Will the Minister make available to the public the internal government report that allegedly clears his name of any misuse of his taxpayer-funded parliamentary allowance?

The Hon. IAN MACDONALD: That really is a matter for the Premier. The Deputy Leader of the Opposition should address his question about that matter to the Premier. I have seen some of the paperwork. The comments made months ago by Mr Adrian Piccoli, the colleague of the Deputy Leader of the Opposition, were well and truly out of order and were a total misrepresentation of one's entitlements. I would not want to name people in this Chamber—

The Hon. Michael Gallacher: You just did!

The Hon. IAN MACDONALD: I am talking about Mr Piccoli. I would not want to name people in this Chamber or in the other Chamber who may have exercised his or her rights, as a member, to purchase an item of furniture, a television, or something like that for use in his or her home office. Members are quite entitled to do so. Over summer, in the frenzy of relevance that he is trying to establish these days, Mr Piccoli went crazy in relation to this issue. It was completely out of order and disgraceful, and the Deputy Leader of the Opposition knows it. That is what he said and the Deputy Leader of the Opposition knows it!

The Hon. Duncan Gay: Point of order: My point of order relates to relevance. In my question, which was a discreet question, I asked the Minister whether he would make public the secret internal document.

The PRESIDENT: Order! The Minister will continue to be generally relevant.

The Hon. IAN MACDONALD: Generally the Minister is relevant in relation to this issue. Given Mr Piccoli's irrelevance on several occasions and his disgraceful behaviour prior to Christmas—

The Hon. Michael Gallacher: Look at the report!

The Hon. Duncan Gay: Table the report!

The Hon. IAN MACDONALD: I am not in charge of this document. Unfortunately for the Deputy Leader of the Opposition, I have been cleared of these terrible slurs by his little mate.

The Hon. Michael Gallacher: Prove it!

The Hon. IAN MACDONALD: I will not give Opposition members any proof.
